Yuletide fic is done, I've started on SO's gift vest (cut & marked all fabric tonight - had to recut one piece, luckily had enough extra fabric to do so), got my hair cut, purchased some red napkins (one of the four we had having mysteriously vanished about 10 days ago), and made pizza for dinner. And we walked Juno. Tomorrow: do laundry, work on pinch hit, go to the dentist, walk Juno (solo; SO is going in to campus), continue working on vest. Maybe Wednesday I can read some fic?

Okay, so I am TOTES behind in reading and thus reccing, but I just received as a gift a GEM of a story that simply cries out to be shared. :)

A Warm Reception is today's offering in

3fan_holidays and it's FOR ME! *bounces* And tailor made it is, too.

Now you all know I don't automatically rec fics for me, but this one definitely deserves it. It's Drapery, and the characterizations are perfect. Severus is dour and snide, his wit as sharp as a shiv, and he needs help. When he finds a way to get the help he requires, Harry and Draco are there, and it's clear that they have a plan to get Severus both well and into their bed (not that I blame them). But of course, Severus has his own plan. ;) Oh how I love plotting Slytherins. *g*

Whoever this is has a deft touch with language, just the little details in the story made me smile, and their Snape voice is SPOT ON.

All the LJ/IJ/DW bitching has done the trick. The power came back on in the night.

How did we know? When our neighbor's generator turned off, and blessed silence returned.

[I don't begrudge my neighbor's need for a 24/7 generator to run his wife's medical equipment. Shit, no. However, the generator is on our side of his house, right by our bedroom window. It kind of ruins the peace of a snow and that silence that comes when everyone's off the grid. I'm sure other neighbors are cursing us for having a generator too, though we turn ours off before we go to bed.]

So we got up: I finished loading the dishwasher and turned it on. Headboy threw the wet clothes into the dryer and put in another load in the washer, though, in truth, I should not allow that man near a washing machine. He did not get the laundry gene. :D Ahhhhh! I am truly thankful for the conveniences of modern life.

My back hurts from shoveling snow. But there is much, much to do.

seanchaidh, I have a box of grits for you! Anyone else need anything?

Still working on Yuletide fic... although I think the end is in sight, at last, which is good since I have less than 20 hours left to finish and upload the thing. *panicking in a small way*

On the plus side, I received my

hd_holidays gift today! *happy dances* Whoever wrote it did a good job of figuring out my likes and dislikes, that's for sure. So go, read "Slick n' Easy" - it's NC17 and ~12,600 words, with lots of plot, some humor, and a nicely snarky Draco.

Uh... other than writing and pausing to read my gift, I did grocery shopping and talked to my mother. That was pretty much it. Today on

Still have lots of snow + 1 inch overnight

Still have no power. C'mon, Progress Energy! I have baking to do!

Still in good shape. HeadBoy, bless 'im, figured out which line runs the modem, so we're online at home. We even ran the load of clothes through the washing machine that got stuck when the power went out Friday night. We were almost in line for Major Fail on that one. We'll have to go to MIL's to dry clothes. Also, Boy2 is out of underwear. Need to get on that, stat!

Snow plow made it through our neighborhood, thank god. Except now we have to dig out the entrance to our drive way.
